Summary

A growing national law firm is seeking an experienced, proactive and driven marketing professional to be part of a team supporting the firm’s largest Department. This important team member will need to have great decision-making skills, be able to collect and analyze department data, and have an ownership mindset. The Senior Business Development & Marketing Specialist will work collaboratively with the Business Department’s Senior Department Marketing Manager, the Department Chairs, and Practice Group Leaders.

Position Reports to: Senior Department Marketing Manager

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Department’s practice groups, attorneys, competition, and client base.
  • Support the development and execution of business development initiatives, programs, events, activities and strategies for the Department and its Practice Groups, both independently and in partnership with the Senior Department Marketing Manager.
  • Support RFP and pitch response strategy and creation of materials, including drafting targeted materials for tailored responses. Monitor and maintain proposal tracking database.
  • Conduct research and competitive analysis inclusive of lateral activity, client insights, thought leadership, events, news/experience, and league tables.
  • Ensure Department and practice-specific marketing and external content is compelling, accurate, and kept up-to-date (practice group pages, attorney bios, pitch and proposal materials).
  • Coordinate and support the development, execution, and follow-up of internal and client-facing events, with support from the firm-wide events team (includes supporting the development of event proposals and budgets, logistics, targeted list development, invitations and client communications, etc.)
  • Coordinate e-communications including eAlerts, monthly department emails, new attorney welcome emails and other communications.
  • Study and monitor the legal market and the various business industries important to the Department and their Practice Groups.
  • Assist with department and practice-specific sponsorships, including attendee registration, collateral, booths, etc.
  • Facilitate and foster collaborative conversations amongst lawyers and within the Marketing department to ‘connect-the-dots’ across the firm’s departments.
  • Collaborate with the firm’s PR team to advance profile-raising efforts within the market.
  • Coordinates and drafts content for external survey, directory, award, and ranking submissions, as well as collecting matter descriptions, client permissions and references from attorneys.
  • Monitor, track, and collaborate with attorneys on the practices’ knowledge/experience management efforts, using the firm’s Foundation database.
  • Monitor the use and updating of client contacts/client team activity information within the InterAction software system.
  • Assist with the marketing budget, including processing invoices, reconciling expenses, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education and/or Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree
  • 4 years or more of relevant work experience in Legal (Am Law preferred) or other Professional Services industry
  • Legal marketing experience preferred
  • Marketing experience in the areas of Private Equity, Joint Ventures, M&A and/or Securities strongly encouraged
  • Driven towards excellence and a strong sense professionalism, and an ability to identify and understand marketplace trends
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to identify and recommend effective solutions
  • Must be responsive to inquiries from internal clients, diplomatic in answering questions or evaluating proposed ideas and thorough when offering feedback concerning results or issues that arise in the course of projects
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work with executives, and ability to handle ambiguous or dynamic requests with a flexible working style

Compensation

The budgeted salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$125,000.00, plus bonus
