Accounting Specialist

Summary
This Accounting Specialist role will play a critical role in the managing and optimizing of the cash receipt processes and overall accounts receivables. Primary responsibilities will include overseeing the accurate recording and reconciliation of incoming cash transactions, collaborating with internal teams to ensure proper allocations, and providing support to our client’s Partners to ensure their client books are precise and current. The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to details, strong written and verbal communication skills, legal accounting experience and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and high-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing all cash receipt records for accuracy
- Daily cash receipts reconciliations
- Management of complex payment arrangements including multi-payor setups, partial payments, overpayments etc.
- Handling all cash reversals and reapplications
- Responding to and managing all incoming cash and A/R inquiries
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies, including unidentified cash receipts
- Generating daily, weekly and monthly financial reports
- Collaborating with finance and billing teams to ensure accurate client records
- Bank and Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with financial and best practice policies
- Identify opportunities for process optimization
- Leverage accounting software and other financial tools to streamline cash management processes
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Experience: at least 6 months in legal accounting, ideally within cash receipts, A/R and/or Billing
- Skills and Abilities:
- Position also requires a dependable; detail-oriented team player with a “willing” attitude and exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written.)
- Must be responsible, organized, and able to think analytically and prioritize work.
- Able to effectively interact and communicate professionally with attorneys, secretaries and staff.
- Able to work well both independently and within a team, possess a strong work ethic and function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Technological Skills: Prior experience with Elite Enterprise or 3E; proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Schedule
Monday – Friday (Hybrid position: 3 days in NYC office)
9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (Flexibility for overtime required)
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 – $80,000, nonexempt.
