Litigation Paralegal

An Am Law 50 law firm with offices worldwide, has an opening for a Paralegal within their Litigation Group in their New York office.
Paralegal Responsibilities
- Apply broad set of knowledge and skills to effectively manage complex cases, demonstrating insight into legal procedures, project management, cost efficiencies, and collaborative skills; effectively identify, promote, and apply technologies to maximize efficiency in carrying out assignments.
- Manage complex cases; develop relationships, internally and externally, to gather data and information and to create networks of relevant resources and services.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize assignments appropriately; determine and implement effective organizational and procedural methods.
- Review and analyze documents and data, perform procedural and factual research with understanding of client, matter, and business needs; provide insightful analysis, recommendations, and solutions to further case objectives.
- Create and maintain, or oversee maintenance of, files, documents, and data.
- Prepare and edit a range of written materials, including correspondence, memoranda, drafts of legal documents, and factual analyses.
- Oversee and provide guidance to other paralegals and temporary staff, as needed, through training and mentoring; provide feedback as appropriate on performance.
- Comply with an administrative requirement to meet billable expectations; prepare and release timenotes on a daily basis; prepare and submit timecards on a weekly basis.
Litigation Responsibilities
- Assist in all phases of a matter from case inception through trial or resolution.
- Assist with document collections, document reviews, and document productions.
- Coordinate management of case documents, including organization, review and production of documents.
- Consult with firm’s eDiscovery Resource Management team to manage document databases and coordinate electronic discovery proceedings.
- Assist with the preparation of court filings, including cite and fact checking legal briefs, confirming proper Bluebook citation, proofreading, and assembling of exhibits and appendices.
- Assist with depositions, including preparation of witness files, exhibits, notices and subpoenas, and deposition summaries.
- Conduct factual or legal research; examine public records; monitor legislative and administrative proceedings as assigned; locate witnesses; trace documents and other physical evidence.
- Assist with trial preparation and logistics, including preparation of witness files, management of exhibits, setting up trial space, and attending trial, as required.
Ideal Candidate
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Five to Seven years relevant experience in practice area or comparable work experience preferred.

- Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
- Ability to follow complex instructions with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Ability to research, analyze, synthesize, and communicate large amounts of complex data.
- Excellent writing skills and communication skills.
- Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships that further teamwork and client service objectives.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business and client needs.
- Flexibility to travel may be required.

The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.
New York salary range: $71K-$134K.
