Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator
A prestigious law firm has an opening for a Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Coordinator in the Washington, DC office.
The Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator has a firmwide presence, working closely with members of the Diversity & Inclusion Department, the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Legal Talent Development, Human Resources, administrative professionals, and affinity group members and leaders to ensure effective implementation of the firm’s diversity and inclusion (“D&I”) objectives and strategies.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Development and Coordination
- Working closely with the D&I Department and other firm colleagues to organize and execute firmwide and office-specific diversity and inclusion events and education programs including, without limitation, special emphasis month programs, mentoring circles, retreats, and an extensive roster of affinity group programs.
- Working closely with members of the D&I Department and the firm’s Affinity Groups to develop and coordinate in-person and virtual programs and provide logistical support for both internal and external programs.
- Assisting members of the D&I Department in maintaining relationships with law school diversity professionals, alumni, community stakeholders and other D&I professionals to expand outreach efforts.
- Assisting members of the D&I Department and the firm’s recruiting teams to implement strategies to attract attorneys and professionals who are dedicated to the firm’s core values of Diversity & Inclusion, including but not limited to the administration and promotion of the firm’s D&I Scholarship.
Administrative and Organizational Support
- Assist members of the D&I Department and the Marketing Department with tracking the diversity-related sponsorships and memberships that the firm maintains with industry organizations and bar associations.
- Working with the D&I Assistant to coordinate schedules, projects, and work flow within the department..
Research and Content Development
- Working with members of the D&I Department and the Marketing Department to maintain diversity and inclusion marketing content: including updating the firm’s internal and external websites, and assisting with the development of internal and external promotional and informational materials to support diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives.
- Assisting in the production of D&I materials, resources and toolkits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting and implementing innovative Diversity & Inclusion initiatives required.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a law firm or professional services organization preferred.
- Experience with diversity, inclusion, and equity practices and programs, especially with employee resource, affinity groups or networks, in the legal profession and/or corporate organizations.
- Prior experience in professional development, marketing, legal recruiting or related area highly desirable.
- Command of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel). Proficiency in viDesktop preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the diversity and inclusion industry.
- Prior project management experience is a plus.
- Experience with event planning.
- Excellent communications skills catering to a professional audience, both oral and written.
- Exceptional flexibility and ability to be a strong team player.
- Excellent collaboration and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple priorities, organize complex information, and implement solutions under pressure in a dynamic environment.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $62,000.00-$77,000.00, plus overtime and bonus. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
