Business Development Specialist (Finance Practices)

Summary
The Business Development Specialist works closely with the Finance group to develop and sustain loyal client base to drive additional work to the firm.
Responsibilities
• Develop concise and actionable business development and marketing plans.
• Work with practice group and industry group leaders on a broad range of business development and marketing strategies, demonstrating understanding of practice group and industry norms, terms, and business procedures.
• Implement business development and marketing plans for assigned practice and industry groups, ensuring that projects are effectively communicated and managed within budget.
• Draft and maintain creative practice group marketing materials, including practice group descriptions, bios, and content for the website. Writing projects may include customized content for pitches and RFPs.
• Conduct competitive intelligence and research of prospective targets, industry sub-sectors, markets, and conflicts via firmwide resources.
• Plan and execute marketing events and sponsorship activities that raise the profile of the Firm.
• Proactively participate in key industry networks, identifying partnership opportunities to enhance the position of the firm or practice groups in the marketplace.
• Complete timely submissions to directories and ranking authorities, ensuring rankings in preferred publications, such as Chambers & Partners, are maximized.
• Produce client development seminars and identify speaking and sponsorship opportunities.
• Assist assigned practice and industry groups and individual partners in preparing for client pitches; track results of pitches and analyze strategies for increasing effectiveness.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. At least four years of relevant experience in professional services marketing; law firm experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of the Finance, Private Equity or Asset Management industries desired, with direct work experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge of core marketing principles including driving innovative tools and programs, competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch and RFP responses.
• High degree of motivation, with driving sense of responsibility, accountability, and responsiveness.
• Excellent writing skills. Ability to focus written materials to ensure impact on general business, legal, and niche populations.
• Excellent attention to detail in all areas, including writing, copy editing, researching, and managing data.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and capability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines.
• Strong business acumen; the ability to recognize marketing and business development opportunities and to pursue them strategically.
• Ability to quickly assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions, including ability to draw clear conclusions from a diverse collection of data.

The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.
New York salary range: $80,000.00-$112,000.00, plus bonus
Boston salary range: $76,000.00-$106,000.00, plus bonus
