Business Development Senior Specialist-Energy & Natural Resources

Summary
The Business Development Senior Specialist works with the Business Development Manager-Energy & Natural Resources, Office Managing Partner and Oil & Gas Industry Group chairs to develop and execute the respective strategies of the Houston office and Oil & Gas Industry Group. The Senior Specialist works with colleagues across departments to support the revenue generation of the firm by maintaining a singular focus on external and internal client service and leveraging our global perspective to connect-the-dots across the enterprise. The Specialist must be a self-starter and motivated to excel.
Responsibilities
- Become an expert in the subject matter of the Industry Group and educate relevant colleagues to have a working knowledge of that subject matter
- Lead the marketing and business development functions for the office and Industry Group
- Partner with appropriate Brand & Communications Department colleagues to ensure coverage and publicity for successful matters, initiatives and products
- Disseminate trends and information related to external clients, practice initiatives, fees, competitors, etc. to relevant colleagues
- Help attract, expand and retain business effectively and efficiently
Requirements
- General knowledge of core oil and gas industry concepts, principles and terminology.
- Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus.
- Organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work independently to research, analyze, develop financial information to identify trends and opportunities.
- Ability to maintain flexibility with respect to assigned tasks due to changing deadlines, changing deliverables and changing task priorities.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to learn and apply new skills quickly and effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including effective interpersonal communications (e.g., active listening).
- General knowledge of professional services business.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion.
- Exhibits an advanced ability to perceive and analyze problems and develop alternative strategies to solve them.
- Experience with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Thomson, PitchBook, VentureSource, and other research tools a plus
- Knowledge and proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience is preferred.
