Summary

The Charlotte, NC office of a leading, global, law firm is seeking an experienced litigation paralegal for our Intellectual Property practice group. Qualified candidates should have at least 2 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal to include pretrial and trial experience, knowledge of federal court filing procedures, electronic discovery, cite checking and the ability to conduct database searches utilizing Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, PACER, Concordance, the USPTO website, and other search engines as needed. Knowledge of the US Patent and Trademark Office, patent experience and experience working with the International Trade Commission are a plus. We are looking for candidates who are resourceful, who exercise good judgment, and who possess effective interpersonal skills. Candidates should be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The position may entail local and domestic travel. Flexibility and the ability to work overtime are essential. A four-year college degree is required; paralegal certificate is preferred.

Essential Duties and Requirements

  • Having prior experience and a working knowledge of document management software systems.
  • Prior experience with large case management and E-Discovery.
  • Reviewing and analyzing matters for the purpose of preparing status reports to attorneys and clients.
  • Establishing, organizing, and maintaining pleadings, attorney trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, and document indices and lists.
  • Obtaining written statements from witnesses.
  • Reviewing and outlining depositions, indices and summarizing documents.
  • Assisting in the trial of cases.
  • Scheduling of witnesses and tracks exhibits.
  • Performing assigned legal research tasks using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems.
  • Proofreading and marking legal documents.
