Specialist, Business Development & Marketing

 

Job Description

Global, law firm is currently seeking a Specialist, Business Development & Marketing for the firm’s Houston and Dallas offices. The position is focused on business development, marketing and communication initiatives for the offices and the firm.

Reporting to the Director for the U.S. based offices and working closely with the office managing partners, this position will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to expand the profile of the offices and the practices in the offices. Responsibilities include communicating business development goals and strategies to the lawyers in the offices; researching and analyzing information on markets, industries, and target clients to identify business development opportunities; conceptualizing, planning, and managing external and internal events such as client roundtables and webinars; identifying and coordinating key sponsorships; and coordinating with the firm’s Public Relations team to build the profile of the offices.

The incumbent will also be responsible for supporting lawyers and colleagues with preparation of responses to requests for proposals and new business pitches; supporting practice group, industry sector and regional marketing initiatives such as Energy and Latin America; collaborating on firm marketing and public relations initiatives; drafting internal and external communications, including collateral materials; providing event planning and support including managing mailing lists, contact lists and client profiles; developing speaking and authorship opportunities with professional and trade organizations; updating and maintaining website content for the practice groups; and collaborating with other marketing, communications, and graphics team members.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing skills; have the ability to synthesize information into professional marketing communications; and be proficient in the use of PowerPoint, spreadsheet, and database applications. A professional writing sample is requested for candidates to be considered. This position requires a very high energy level and flexibility due to a busy workload. The ideal candidate will thrive on working in a fast-paced environment, must be able to quickly think on their feet, be creative, proactive and demonstrate the ability to think out of the box.

Experience
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university plus 5 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, business and practice development, or a related field.; knowledge of the competitive landscape challenging major national law firms; demonstrated capacity to implement strategic business plans; the ability to project personal credibility, professionalism, and a high degree of integrity among practice group and firm leadership, business development colleagues, and clients; and the ability to function independently and effectively in a matrix organization.

Periodic travel to Dallas is required.
