Summary

The Marketing & Business Development Coordinator is responsible for implementing an integrated approach to marketing and business development activities for specific practice groups within this global law firm’s Corporate & Finance Transactions Department. This position works collaboratively with practice leadership and other marketing professionals on key projects to ensure coordination, effective engagement with marketing resources, consistency of approach and high-quality execution of initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a primary marketing contact for assigned practice groups and teams within the Corporate & Finance Transactions Department for assigned practice groups.
  • Drafts, edits and proofs marketing collateral materials for assigned practice groups and teams; including web content, pitch materials, presentations, event invitations, and lawyer biographies
  • Coordinates with attorneys and other marketing team members to compile, format, and distribute client alerts and newsletters
  • Collaborates with the RFP and BD Managers on responses to RFP, RFI and RFQ requests specific to assigned practice groups and teams
  • Works with the appropriate marketing team members to provide support for new business, client retention and cross-selling opportunities within assigned groups and teams; delivers current, thorough, and actionable information to attorney teams
  • In coordination with the PR team, ensures coverage of successful matters and initiatives including publicizing internally and externally (in particular, with the use of social media) in accordance with the firm’s public relations policy
  • Coordinates with attorneys and secretaries in support of the creation and maintenance of contact lists in the firm’s client relationship management (CRM) database
  • In conjunction with the marketing events team, manages internal and external event coordination and execution for practice-hosted and attended conferences, seminars (both live and via webcast) and receptions, as well as local functions for other practices and office functions, as necessary
  • Collaborates with the library and other firm resources to facilitate competitive intelligence and marketing research reports
  • Tracks activity and documents the success of all relevant business development projects and marketing initiatives
  • Coordinates the compilation and submission of materials and references for assigned practice groups and teams in connection with various legal industry guides, e.g. Chambers
  • Assists with production and execution of client alerts and practice newsletters
  • Works with the Creative Services Team on the creation of and maintenance of practice marketing materials
  • Helps update and capture matter descriptions for external deal publicity and tracking in matter experience database for use in proposals, submissions and league tables
  • Coordinates and updates practice information on the firm’s website and other systems
  • Performs other duties as assigned by BD Managers

Requirements

  • Education/Experience/Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum three (3) years marketing experience in a professional services environment or three years’ experience working in the marketing department of a large corporation
  • Ability to interact professionally with both internal and external clients on all levels
  • Ability to work as part of a national professional team
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with lawyers, management, staff and clients one-on-one and through written correspondence, surveys, memos, etc.
  • Proven project management, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with flexibility and adaptability to changing work priorities, work flow and work assignments
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to accommodate projects as needed
  • Ability to diplomatically provide answers, productive suggestions or to ask those in authority for greater clarity or more information, if needed
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to think creatively, using good judgment and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to concentrate on the details of executing projects once the big picture has been identified by upper management
  • Requires the ability to regularly report to work on the days and times scheduled
  • Minimum travel is required for this position

Compensation: $61,000.00-$85,000.00, plus overtime and bonus
